hey you guys and welcome to the vlog Guess where I am?
I’m in Italy! as you can tell I’m very tired,
because today is actually our first day in Italy and we had quite a long flight.
I flew with my mom and I’ll tell you about that at a later time but right now we just arrived at the Pantheon
and we’re just kind of walking around it was so pretty and Suleiman is
here and reunited with his dad. yeah he’s so happy to back with him and
you can see there’s like… my mom’s snapchatting around there,
but I’m gonna take you around and show you what I do it’s around six pm right now.
So it’s not gonna be a super long day I’ll probably merge some of these days together to
kind of give you a more interesting video but let’s take you along for the ride Oh, we’re about to have some pizza!
(I don’t know why I sang that haha) This is from a place called, Emmas.
Known here in Rome We have an artichoke salad. This looks so good. This parmesan, by the way…Oh yeah, yum! our first date night in ….years? “Yeah”
Yeah, first date night in Italy so we left Suleiman with my mom and
we’re just coming out now for some gelato late night and oh that looks good
gotta line up around the corner it’s called, “Otaleg”
Which is gelato backwards I already started eating it, because it was so good Hey Yusuf. “Oh so good” I got wild strawberry and chocolate with chocolate pieces in it and it tastes like a chocolate-covered strawberry so good. I don’t know if you can see
it’s so dark out here right now this square that we’re at is so busy
all the young people are here. Look. it’s super super busy right now At the river at nighttime.
Yusuf is talking to his snapchat. Look at this. I don’t know if you can see. They didn’t light the river. Down here just like in Japan, by the river we have a market down here for shopping hey, I got my gelato this is a raspberry one yesterday, I had a wild strawberry one .
That’s my mom. What did you get? “Pistachio” Yummy. Really good. This little guy is over here. hey, so we’re walking around.
It’s beautiful, but it’s really hot Now there’s a breeze. So that’s a nice relief. Suleiman is just relaxing over here he’s at the point of the day where he’s just playing with his feet. Like that’s his sources entertainment I think after this we’ll probably go see the forum, maybe.
And then we’ll go grab some food this day requires really good running shoes
and I decided to wear heels not a smart choice, but look behind me
this is called, the Roman Forum At a pizzeria called, Plutos. Who’s awake from his nap? Good morning. “habibi” you’re my habibi. we got our pizza this is a margarita pizza
and this is the funghi mushroom which is the traditional pizza. We walked our way through the Coliseum. It’s very simple, but but tastes delicious hey everyone, it evening time now
and we’re just out for dinner we’re at this restaurant called, La Tavernaccia. which is one of the top ten of pasta spots in Rome.
I’m really excited to try it it’s very affordable.
I’m looking at the menu pricing, it’s not so bad it’s comparable to Canada, I would say, as far
as just going out for dinner so for a top ten, that’s pretty reasonable
and yes we did bring Suleiman with us I love you, “Mr. Sleepy Bear” my mom and then, of course, my husband Happy Father’s Day! “thank you” I’ll show you what we get (bruschetta) Fresh burrata and foccacia Clam linguini Artichoke spaghetti Porcini mushroom pappardelle Eggplant parmesan Classic steak & potatoes Oxtail in Marinara “Smells delicious” we’re just at the river here in Rome I think they were calling it, “Tiber” river. we came here on our date night,
but we didn’t really get to see it It was so dark. I don’t know what happened,
the lights went out or there was a power outage now you can see it we’re just at a park.
(There are gated parks for kids to stretch their legs) I just wanna give him a chance to run around I covered him in sunblock I actually reapply every few hours,
because the Sun is so hot – I don’t want him to get burnt even with that, it seems his arms a little bit red still This here, this is called, “The Jewish Ghetto” You’ll find kosher variations
of all the things that you want to eat here so we’re gonna probably come back here and try the osso buco ors omething like that that’d be good I also want to try the veal parmesan. We’re just walking down right now.
We’re so full at the moment. So much history here. This structure right here.
They say it’s over a thousand years old. “Take a picture over here” This is part of the Jewish ghetto area that we’re talking about Look here.
Down here you’ll find all the kosher foods like I said this is a very old building Don’t quote me on when this was from.
I’ll wikipedia it for you. (Wikipedia says it’s from the eighteen hundreds) This is how it looks. Just by a very busy main road is this! ancient ruins just in the middle of the city
and then you have the pillars there there you go and I’m not kidding, a major road is right here we’re walking this way, because we’re going to a fort.
Which I’ll show you it’s spectacular you’re gonna love this This is called, “Altare Della Patria” How cool. It’s right by the Colusseum.
Which is right there. This is actually my favourite part. good morning, this is I think day three in Italy and we’re just at a bakery now
and I’m getting some things. Hey Suleiman, how are you? let me show you what we’re looking at “Bonci Pizzeria” You can grab some pastries or roman styled pizza. When in Rome, pizza for breakfast. mushroom one is really good I always order the mushroom pizza. Hey, we’re at the Vatican now and I just want to tell you,
if you come to any of these tourist attractions like the Vatican or if you go to the Colosseum.
Don’t buy the group tour it’s a scam basically they charge you about ten or twenty euros per person and they tell you that you can skip the line there is no such thing as skipping the line The line is for security, so even if you buy the tour
you still have to go through security and that’s where the line is from
and it’s not that long they’re actually really accommodating with children especially if you have a baby.
Then they will basically let you skip the line they have a special entrance for strollers and wheelchairs so that’s a pro tip for you Don’t be afraid to bring your children. It actually makes your travel much easier not harder now the next thing I want to say is,
you buy the ticket after the security line that’s why it’s not worth buying the group
tours and they’re very short tours we did a group tour at the Colosseum,
it was less than ten to fifteen minutes long we did skip the line
and went through security fast but we got a fast pass, because we have a baby Everyone else in our tour had to wait. if you have a stroller, go straight to security.
They will usually wave you in if you get waved in,
you can go show them that you have a baby but we’ve never had any issues with that anyways, you buy the tickets
after you’ve gone through security it’s usually about like I said ten or twenty euros
less than the tours anyways and it’s very fast, there’s no lineup for the actual tickets, because most people get duped for the tour just a pro tip for anyone who goes to Italy,
don’t buy tours we’re just heading towards the Sixteenth Chapel there’s a beautiful garden area here there lots of statues each one has
a certain history type of a person and a certain part showing.
It’s very common, of course. I love the trees hey, we just got out of the Sixteenth Chapel –
you’re not allowed to record in there because it’s a holy site, but it was very beautiful Alhamdulillah and then Suleiman had a nap we just have refreshed ourselves a little bit We didn’t grab any food yet for ourselves
just a little bit of food for him and he ate that quickly
and now we’re gonna go meet up with my mom Right outside the Michael Angelo. Hey, we’re just going out for dinner now. We went home for a bit. I got to tidy up the luggage, because that was a mess after being here for a few days this is I guess the more hipster area of Rome. So I’m going to show you what that looks like.
It’s very pretty it’s got like alleyways with twinkle lights it’s got that whole vibe to it.
Everyone’s really young here people are just chatting, having a nice time and eating We’re at this restaurant now called, Tonarello We started by order the fried artichoke –
a Roman classic. And then we have a caprese salad. It’s not bad. I’ll be honest though,
I prefer roasted artichoke The artichoke heart, that’s better I added a little bit of some pepper,
because I love to have pepper on my tomatoes it doesn’t come that way, but you can ask for it I know, I’m such a chef.
I’m not satisfied with just the tomatoes caprese – and they already have oregano
and olive oil on this. Really delicious. Super fresh.
I also asked for a side of balsamic I’m that person at restaurants – I’m sorry Oh grazia and ask for a side of bread I sound like Sally, from “When Harry Met Sally”
When she asked for everything on the side We ordered some lasagna for the table
and pesto pasta as well. This is the lasagna. Wow – that’s really good.
“It’s amazing” “I love the pesto”
never had anything like that I’ve never had it like that
yeah I got a I got a step up my lasagna game This is it’s amazing. them this is the pesto pasta
and it comes in different colors I love it and then it’s handmade as well “I love how everything tastes so fresh”
Yeah. It has a much stronger flavor than it would in Canada. Everything that we’ve tasted. Even eating like a tomato or mushroom tastes completely different here than it does in Canada . We ordered a pizza. Can’t go wrong with cheese. My pizza Very good Yalla, say bismillah. “Oh tiramisu” “Oh, that’s really good.” This is what I’m talking about I got strawberries and vanilla ice cream –
cant go wrong with that. This is so good. it’s melting very fast, because it’s hot today
