– Inflammatory breast cancer
is typically diagnosed just on exam, because
patients will come in and they will have
typically a diffuse redness, or a peau d’orange, which is,
it looks like an orange peel appearance to the breast. They may have nipple retraction, they may have a large
mass there, they may not, that you can palpate. We usually, we do a skin
biopsy on those patients, to determine their actual diagnosis. But inflammatory breast
cancer is also called IBC, and it’s a very aggressive breast cancer, and we treat it very aggressively.
